For The Love of Pink!

Now you probably know, that as a family of four (five if you count me) girls that pink would naturally be one of our favorite colors. And it is - despite the fact that when we found out Karlee was a girl, Ken swore no pink, ruffles or hairbows - our MOSTLY favorite (as Eloise would say.) We LOVE pink and have, use, buy, pick it when ever we get a chance - cupcakes, markers, shirts, cups, shoes, syrup (yep - Strawberry by Smuckers - yummy!), bubble gum, soccer balls, cars, pencils, underwear, Pink Princess Punch (our version of raspberry lemonade), bathing suits, blankets, pants, socks, sunglasses, toothbrush timer - toothbrush - toothpaste (Karlee went to the dentist today), baby bottles, ice cream, books (Pinkalicious is one of our favorites), bath water (Crayola color dots!), Barbie clothes, plates, sheets, straws, towels, applesauce, crayons, purses, bouncy seats and most recently this afternoon, Easter basket grass.

In fact, I have this conversation at least once a day:
Karlee: "Mommy, can I have the pink one?"
Kendall: "No, pink - me!" (Although I'm not so sure she really knows pink since almost everything you show her and ask the color, she calls pink.)
Me: "Stop - there are two pinks so you can both have one"

There is one time place that we do not love pink and that place is in our EYE! Yes, three of the four girls have pink eye - Karlee is the lucky one for now. We took Kourt in to the pediatrician because she has had runny nose, cough, gunky eyes and this morning, a fever. Well, turns out she has pink eye and an ear infection in her left ear. We also asked him to check Kam - she has pink eye also and an infection in her right ear. Since Kendall was also with us, he checked her eyes too - and you guessed it! - pink eye. So everybody is on eyedrops (you would not believe the price for a teeny, tiny bottle) and the twins have an antibiotic as well.

So today we did not have so much love for PINK- but ask us again next week - and I bet we'll be back to lovin' it again.

Not Me Monday

It was not me who got TWO parking tickets today while I was at school. I was running late this morning so I had to park along the same side of the street as all the other cars from school where I normally park but about five feet outside the school gate. When I got back to my car at noon when I was leaving, I saw two pieces of paper on the windshield. It was TWO parking tickets - one for $10 for parking on the wrong side of the street and $15 for parking on a yellow curb. People park there all the time!!!! It was right outside the school gate!!!! In 17 years of driving, I have never gotten a ticket for anything - "not even a parking ticket" - and now I get TWO tickets at one time!

It is not me who says "don't hit your sister in the face", "hey, get off her", & "let go of your sister" NOT to my almost 2 yr old and 5 yr old, but to my 6 month old TWINS!!! I know that it is because they sleep practically on top of each other and are with each other all the time but, come on, they could leave each other alone for a second. I never thought I would say those things to them.

During the "Spring Clean out" we did over the weekend, it was not my family that had enough junk to fill 10 12 14 large - I'm talking lawn & leaf-sized - trash bags. Ken did not have to back his truck up to the garage and load all the garbage and drive down the driveway because we had so much!

Easter Bunny

Karlee & Kendall spent Saturday morning at John Scott & Jacob's Birthday Eggstravaganza where they enjoyed an egg hunt, a visit with the Easter Bunny, cupcakes and ice cream and candy. Those Griners really know how to throw a party!!!

After the party, Ken took the girls to Harris Shoals Park to have a Happy Meal "picnic" in the back of the truck. We spent the rest of the weekend working around the house. We cleaned all the junk out of the guestroom and got the bed set back up, the new comforter put on the bed and the pictures hung. We also set up the pack-n-play for the twins to move in soon. Kendall still sleeps in the crib, so in order to get them out of the cradle (where they are packed in like sardines) they will have to sleep in the pack-n-play for a while. We also cleaned out the garage and set up a play area with toys, cardboard blocks, a Dora tent, a playhouse with a slide and tables and chairs. The girls have already had a blast playing out there - especially Kendall - she loves to climb and slide. Good thing too since it is so cold it must be WINTER again here!!!

On another note, the twins are almost 6 months old and we weighed them a few nights ago - Kamryn was 16 lbs 4 oz and Kourtney was 16 lbs 2 1/2 oz. Kourt has almost caught up to Kam - they both love their oatmeal!!

Not Me Monday

It is not me whose middle child thinks her daddy's name is "Babe". I wonder who calls him that . . .

It was not me who almost kept her friend from getting a new Mary Kay car (a Saturn Vue) because I had yet to pay for an order I placed (and received) in JANUARY!!!

I am supermom, of course, so it would not be me who has three laundry baskets piled to the ceiling with clean laundry waiting to be folded. Nope, not me. Because I would never do my blog until all of the housework was finished.

It was not me who got a cortisone shot in my knee today in hopes of preventing surgery in the future and I definitely did not forget to shave and lotion my legs this morning. It never occurred to me that the doctor would need to actually look at my knee in order to give the shot. I would never be that unprepared. It certainly did not have anything to do with the fact that I got up about 30 minutes late this morning and had to rush around like crazy to get to school on time.

It was not me (or Ken) who was up at 1:30 am, 2:24 am, 3:15 am, 4:45 am , 5:37 am & 6:45 am on Sunday morning. It was also not our children you heard crying at the above mentioned times because they were all asleep in their own beds like tiny angels.

Your turn - Why don't you give it a shot? Post your "Not Me Mondays" in the comments section - I promise that it will make you feel much better.

Rain & Pancakes

This yucky, nasty rain continues and we decided that we needed a break - something fun and different. We pondered a few ideas: Chuck-E-Cheese (Ken's idea believe it or not), Chick-fil-A with it's indoor playground, Pump It Up! (Karlee's choice), Waffle House & play songs on the jukebox (my idea) and "chickie" (Kendall's choice). We finally decided on IHOP, cookies to decorate and then Kohl's to shop for "spring shoes". We started at IHOP where we all had pancakes and all the girls used pink and purple syrup (boysenberry and strawberry - Ken used regular - BORING!!) Then we headed to Creative Cookies to decorate cookies. For around $2 you can get a really big, good-sized cookie with 2 colors of icing and sprinkles. Karlee and Kendall had fun decorating and "tasting" the icing and sprinkles. Then we brought the cookies home to eat later. Ken also went next door to a bakery called Bee's Knees and got some yummy cupcakes - red velvet and yellow with chocolate icing. By this time we were all too tired for Kohl's so we promised Karlee we would go another day when we had more time. It was a fun evening and got everybody out of the house for a while - although we still didn't get to run and play.

A Missing Baby!??

The babies are getting older and much more mobile. In fact, mobile enough to get lost. Karlee and I left both babies on their play mat in the center of the bonus room and went out put Kendall down for her nap. When I came back in, Kamryn was happily playing on the mat, but Kourtney was missing. She wasn't lost for long - we found her when we looked on the OTHER side of the bonus room. She didn't know she was missing - she was giggling and cooing and having a great time exploring. I picked her up and put her back, and I kid you not, in about 10 seconds she was back on the other side of the room. I have decide that I need one of those old "playpens", you know the square ones, sort of like a pack-n-play but bigger for two babies to fit in with room to roll and play. So, if anyone has one or knows of one please let me know - I am very interested. My husband would appreciate if I did not "lose" our children anymore.

Prayers for Stellan
On another note, please be praying for sweet baby Stellan and his family. His mom is MckMomma of the "My Charming Kids" blog who does Not Me Monday. You can click the picture to link to the blog and get updates on his condition. I feel a sort of connection to them because he was sick the same time the twins were and was born about two weeks after them. He was born diagnosed with a heart condition and had little chance for survial but he was born healthy! But, now he is sick again and really needs your prayers.

5 Months!!

I cannot believe that the twins are five months old!!! It seems like yesterday we just found out we were going to have them. They are really starting to have personalities. Kamryn is still a little bigger than Kourtney but the difference is getting harder to notice. Kourtney is the cool, calm, laid-back one - she rarely fusses, smiles a lot. Kamryn is more high-maintenance. She cries more - but just because she wants to be held and entertained. She has a big, giggly grin that she showers upon anyone who looks her way. They both love attention and will smile and giggle at all the little old ladies who stop to see them (and believe me, there are quite a few}. Kam used to be the thumb sucker but apparently she has gotten her sister hooked too although neither is a big time "sucker" (they don't really use their pacifiers much anymore either). They love their toes and try to put them in their mouths any chance they get. Tonight I caught Kamryn trying to eat Kourtney's toes!!. They love each other and sleep best squished up together in their cradle. We just got out the exersaucer a few days ago and they really enjoy playing in it. We have also just started cereal - oatmeal actually. Kam is a big time eater - she gobbles it up but Kourt is not too crazy about it. She pushes most of it out and gets pretty frustrated with the whole process. I will have to work with her a little more at times when she is calm and not so hungry. They are wonderfully healthy, happy babies with no signs or symptoms of TTTS. Truly miracles!!! Pictures will be coming soon.
